Gourd - Half Calabash
Everyone’s favourite percussive boom box just got more size options! These dried and hollowed Half Calabashes, also known as gourds, are imported from Niger in West Africa and are prized for their deep bass tones, resonant sound, and long-lasting performance.
Traditionally used across West Africa, these versatile gourds are essential in the creation of various musical instruments such as the Bolon, Donso Ngoni, Kora, Soku, and Djidunun (water drums). Their thick walls make them ideal for both percussive use and instrument building, especially Koras.
