About Barnes & Mullins
Founded in 1894 by Mr. Albert Mullins and Mr. S. Bowley Barnes, Barnes & Mullins has a rich history in musical instrument craftsmanship. Initially known for their expertise in banjos, they quickly expanded to manufacturing and importing various instruments. Original Barnes & Mullins banjos are highly prized by collectors worldwide.
Despite the tragic loss of Albert Mullins in 1914, Bowley Barnes continued the business, relocating from Bournemouth to Rathbone Place, London. In 1976, Mark Barnes, Bowley's son, moved the company to Grays Inn Road, Bloomsbury. Following his passing in 1986, Bruce Perrin, who had been a Director since 1986, took over as Managing Director in 1999. Under his leadership, the company moved to a modern facility in Oswestry, Shropshire.
Bruce Perrin states, “We are excited about the future and are constantly looking at ways to innovate and evolve. Yet, Barnes & Mullins has always endeavored to prioritize our customers.”
