Patika / Aslatua / Asalato Shaker
West African Rhythm in Your Hands
Handcrafted in Ghana, West Africa, the Aslatua (also known by other names) is a traditional percussion instrument made from two small natural gourds filled with small pebbles and joined by a short rope. Its crisp, organic sound is perfect for adding texture and energy to your music. Played by shaking, holding one or both and releasing of of the gourds, allowing you to swing it around the hand and clack the gourds together in a rhythmic way. It’s a fun and versatile way to explore rhythm, and work on hand-eye co-ordination. Take it to the next level by incorporating one in each hand!
Compact and lightweight, the Asalato fits easily in your pocket—ready to bring beats to jam sessions, drum circles, or solo practice anywhere.
- Authentic West African craft
- Distinct, percussive tone
- Perfect pocket-size companion
- Visually spectacular, especially if a second one is used to create a polyrhythm
