High Spirits Kestrel "High D" - Walnut

The High Spirits Kestrel "High D" Flute is a Native American style flute handcrafted from Black Walnut and tuned to the key of D minor. The flute has a clear, bright tonal voice and is tuned to an especially high octave.

This flute is tuned to the key of "D" minor, and it can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "F".

The Kestrel 'D' is High Spirits's highest octave flute in the key of 'D' minor, which makes it a great accompaniment to bass tone flutes in the key of 'D' such as the Condor Bass 'D' flute.

These high-tone flutes are a great instrument for drum circles because their higher pitch allows them to beautifully stands out among lower-tone instruments.

The key of 'D' is the primary key of Penny Whistles, which adds to the versatility of the Kestrel 'D' for pairing with other instruments and musical styles.

The compact size of the Kestrel Flutes make them an ideal choice for use during travel or outdoor activities such as hiking or backpacking. The Kestrel 'D' is 15 inches (38 cm) in length.

This is a 6-hole flute but High Spirits provides a leather cover for the 3rd hole from the top (known as the 6th hole) to give the option of playing it as a 5-hole flute, which is simpler to play.

This flute is named after the American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) which is one of the smallest and most common falcon birds found in North America.

Size: 38 cm in length (5 inches).
