The High Spirits Kestrel in the key of "D" minor is made from domestic black walnut. It is sealed with non-toxic oils giving it a clear, bright voice.

This flute is tuned to the key of "D" minor, and it can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "F". It the highest octave in the key of "D" from the High Spirits flutes and is a good accompaniment flute for the Condor Bass "D" flute. These high-tone flutes are a great instrument for drum circles because their higher pitch allows them to beautifully stands out among lower-tone instruments. Its compact size makes it an ideal travel or hiking flute.

This is a 6-hole flute but High Spirits provides a leather cover for the 3rd hole from the top (known as the 6th hole) to give the option of playing it as a 5-hole flute, which is simpler to play.
