Udu Drums

The Udu (say oodoo) was originally developed by women in Nigeria. Centuries later, the LP Claytone Udu Drum was further refined by master ceramicist Frank Giorgini. Each one offers individual tonal values. They can be played by hitting any part of the drum with the palm of the hand or the fingertips and palming the hole strongly resembles the low Indian tabla which is instantly recognisable. The textured surfaces provide additional tonal variations by creating rubbing sounds.

Sizes:

  • The C1 measures 12" x 8" and is the smallest in the series of Udu drums by Latin Percussion.
  • The C3 measures 16" x 10".
  • The C4 measures 17 x 11" and is the largest in the series.

This instrument is well made and produces very nice tones, definitely worth the price!

Udu drums, in general, are quite simply amazing in their depth of sound. It is easy to play in ones lap, and the range of tones and dynamics is very wide. This line of Udu drums was very well engineered, and are very well made and attractive. I enthusiastically recommend any of them.
