Barnes & Mullins origin

Established in 1894 by Albert Mullins and S. Bowley Barnes, Barnes & Mullins began as "The Jo," a musical instrument journal. Specialising in banjos and expanding into instrument manufacturing and importing, the original Barnes and Mullins banjos are now collectibles worldwide.
Tragedy struck in 1914 when Albert Mullins perished in the sinking of the 'Empress of Ireland.' Bowley Barnes carried on, relocating the business to London.
In 1976, Mark Barnes moved the company to Bloomsbury. His passing in 1986 was mourned by those who appreciated his fairness.
Bruce Perrin, a Director since 1986, became Managing Director in 1999. The company moved to Oswestry, Shropshire, embracing innovation while prioritising customers.
